This removes pixels by color similarity, not by recognizing a person or object. Similar foreground colors may also be affected. Complex photographic backgrounds need a segmentation tool. Use PNG or WebP with transparency enabled to preserve the cutout.

Remove a color: common questions
Can this remove a complex photo background?
This tool removes pixels by color similarity. It does not identify people, hair or objects with AI segmentation. It works best on simple, mostly uniform backgrounds; similar foreground colors may also be removed.
What does edge-connected removal do?
When enabled, removal starts with matching areas connected to the image edges. Matching colors enclosed within the subject can remain. Tolerance controls color similarity; feathering softens the transition.
