    How to create a multi-size favicon

    1. Choose a simple source image with a clear subject.
    2. Choose Center crop or Fit and inspect the 256-pixel square preview.
    3. Create the favicon and download the ICO containing all six sizes.

    Know before you export

    The ICO contains PNG-compressed square icons and targets modern browsers and systems. Very small sizes can lose fine detail. Legacy software that requires bitmap-only ICO files may not accept this export.

    Supported files

    Still JPEG, PNG, WebP and AVIF up to 20 MiB and 64 megapixels, plus HEIC where your browser can open it (Safari on Mac, iPhone and iPad). Photos above 24 megapixels are edited at 24 megapixels, and color effects run at up to 12 megapixels. Multi-image tools allow 12 files and 60 MiB of combined input. GIF, SVG, animated images and RAW formats are not supported.

    Which icon sizes are included?

    The ICO contains square PNG-encoded icons at 16, 32, 48, 64, 128 and 256 pixels. Check the smallest sizes carefully because fine image details can disappear.

    Will the ICO work in every old application?

    This export targets modern browsers and systems that accept PNG-compressed ICO entries. Legacy software requiring bitmap-only ICO files may not accept it.
