Compress an image to 20 KB
Exam portals and signature uploads often accept images only under 20 KB. This compressor is preset to 19 KiB (19,456 bytes), so the file stays under the limit whether the site counts 20 KB as 20,000 or 20,480 bytes.

Export createdHow to compress an image
- Choose your photo or scan, or try the sample image.
- The target is already 19 KiB with JPEG output. Set a maximum width such as 600 px if the photo is very large.
- Process the image, confirm the reported size is under the limit and download it.
Know before you export
Compression changes how pixels are encoded. Lower quality may create visible artifacts. A requested target size is best effort, and converting an already efficient image can produce a larger file. PNG inputs can be exported as JPEG or WebP; this tool does not offer a misleading PNG quality slider.
Supported files
Still JPEG, PNG, WebP and AVIF up to 20 MiB and 64 megapixels, plus HEIC where your browser can open it (Safari on Mac, iPhone and iPad). Photos above 24 megapixels or 8,192 pixels per side are processed at that size. GIF, SVG and animated images are not supported. Available export formats depend on your browser.

The tools read your files in browser memory and create a local download. They do not send image contents to a server.

Compress to 20 KB: common questions
Why is the target 19 KiB instead of 20 KB?
Upload forms count 20 KB as either 20,000 or 20,480 bytes. 19 KiB is 19,456 bytes, which passes both. Type a different target if your form states another limit.
What if my photo still will not get under 20 KB?
Large camera photos can stay too big even at the lowest quality. Enter a maximum width of about 600 pixels and process again; fewer pixels need fewer bytes. The result always says whether the target was met.
